Visit Walden Pond

As I will be moving back to Arizona in a couple of weeks, a friend of mine suggested we visit Walden Pond this weekend. The pond is only a fifteen minute drive from my apartment in Waltham, MA. It was a beautiful day for a walk around the lake and a great way to spend a lazy Saturday.

Christmas Cookies and Boston Pops

Last week, my fellow photographer friends and I  got together with our graphic designer friends to decorate some Christmas cookies. Decorating the cookies was a lot of fun, even though Jay only made inappropriate ones. Somehow, one cookie ended up having a whole orange on top. It was very relaxing and a great time spent with the friends I have made here. Later that day, we all went to Liz’s home for dinner before heading out to see the Boston Pops Christmas show at Symphony Hall. The venue was beautiful and the show was amazing. The orchestra played Christmas classics with a few new twists.

A Photographer for Photographers

Last weekend was a busy shooting weekend. After photographing Tristan at the Frog Pond and Jane in the snow, I was asked by two fellow classmates and friends to photograph an engagement shoot they were doing. They needed stills and video for a promotional video they are making for their upcoming studio and business. We all headed to a park in Concord, MA and the photographers got to work.

Pandora in the Snow

As a graduate with a degree in Classics, I have always loved Greek and Roman myths. I have taken on the personal project of recreating these myths in photo form. I am currently in the final stages of the myth of Apollo and Daphne, but this last weekend, I wanted to get started on a new myth and I chose to portray the myth of Pandora. As that is still in the early stages, I thought I would share with you the photos that I took later, just for fun.

Tristan in the Snow

Last weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a little boy named Tristan and his family for their family Christmas card. We met at the Frog Pond in the Boston Common. Dressed in his holiday coat, Tristan was off like a bullet and I just tried to keep up.

Sweethearts Chad + Christina

I recently shot a couple’s engagement photos in Somerville, MA. The couple was great to work with and had a fun-loving style. I photographed them around the city of Somerville and in a local park. They will be married in Vermont early next year.

Models

A few weeks ago, we were asked to shoot several models in the studio. We had to make several key decisions from the lighting and sets, to their hair and wardrobe. I shot everything from simple portraits to high-fashion. We were also asked to shoot a model and incorporate motion. For this, I styled my model and then used a scarf to incorporate the motion.

Family Visit

Last weekend, some friends and family visited me from Arizona. We had a great time visiting Boston, Salem, and Cambridge. It was a busy weekend, but all I can remember is that we seemed to be eating the whole weekend. In addition to the restaurants we visited, we went to Trinity Church, Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, and walked the Freedom Trail. All in all, it was memorable weekend.

Apple Picking

I went apple picking for the first time and as a girl from Arizona, it was very exciting. The apples were delicious and I ate several straight from the tree. The orchard was picturesque and as there were two photography students in our group, the event naturally turned into a photo session. My friend Jay Lublang and I photographed our friends from The Sandbox Sessions, Tess and Liz. They were such good sports and we all had a wonderful time. We capped the morning off with sweet cider donuts and apple cider. It was a delicious morning!

Another ‘couples shoot’ we did for class was at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown, MA. The venue was an absolutely beautiful location to shoot at, although the grounds were wet from recent rain. This couple I shot did not mind the damp grounds so I shot them entirely outside. They were so quirky and fun. I had such a good time photographing them.
